In late 2006, I bought a Taurus 1911. I had always wanted a 1911 since my dad told me about his experiences with them. I didn't want to spend a ton of money, so that ruled out something like a Kimber. I found a pretty vanilla colt and this Taurus for right around $500.
At first I was torn between the two. One the one hand, I was interested in the extra features of the Taurus. On the other, Colt had better brand-name in my mind. I finally decided on the Taurus, as I liked the feel of it better. I've also had good experiences with Taurus revolvers in the past.
